Meta has announced that starting September 29, 2022, all new submissions of Quest applications will require Android 10 (API level 29). The team says this change will allow to take advantage of security features, fixes, and performance improvements related to the newer API, further improving the health and safety of the VR ecosystem, while allowing you to take advantage of new features in the A10 API SDK.
It is important to note that existing apps adopting a lower level are not affected, but from September 29, 2022, any new submissions will require the minimum required API level.
Also, as of June 24, 2022, you may receive a security warning in the test results page for apps submitted using APIs below level 29.
API level 29 will be enforced during binary upload. This means that after September 29, 2022, you will not be able to upload any lower level new binaries. Behavior that may change in the current application depending on the API version:
